Origin and History

Sac Arası is a traditional dessert made during weddings, circumcisions and holidays in Konya and its surroundings. It takes its name from the dough being rolled out on a sac. This flavor, which has survived from the Ottoman period to the present day, is especially preferred for sharing at large tables.

Ingredients and Preparation

The dough is kneaded and thin sheets are rolled out. The sheets are layered with butter and crushed walnuts sprinkled between them. It is baked in a preheated oven until it turns golden. After it comes out of the oven, hot syrup is poured on it and the dessert is left to absorb the syrup. It is served by decorating it with clotted cream or pistachios.
