Konya Whirling Dervishes

What is Semâ and Why is it Important?

The Konya Whirling Dervish ceremonies offer visitors an unforgettable experience through Semâ, the ritual of spiritual whirling performed by Mevlevi dervishes. Semâ, closely associated with the teachings of Mevlana Jalaluddin Rumi, symbolizes the human being’s inner journey and surrender to divine love.

Recognized by UNESCO as an Intangible Cultural Heritage, Semâ holds great significance worldwide both spiritually and culturally.
